Deeply Rooted Dance Theater A Hit On GMA’S “Your Three Words”

“Turn Life Around” are the inspirational words Chicago’s Deeply Rooted Dance Theater revealed to the world Thursday morning during the Good Morning America segment, “Your Three Words.” The popular dance company was chosen to perform live from Millennium Park.

For the first time, Good Morning America went live from a dozen locations across the Unite States and Afghanistan. Members of Deeply Rooted’s dance troupe were the only Americans representing the Midwest in the weekly GMA segment.

Joshua Ishmon from Gary, Indiana was thrilled to showcase his talent and those of his fellow dancers to the world. In an interview, he shared with the GMA anchors that dance has shown him what is possible to achieve. “I can do it and so can you,” Ishmon said.

Deeply Rooted is excited about the exposure as the dance company prepares for its 15th anniversary finale performance to be held at the Harris Theater at Millennium Park on December 9, 2011. One of the slated debut performances, “Chicago Women of Song,” will interpret through dance the inspiration and resilience of seven of Chicago’s renowned women vocalists.

“Today’s exposure on Good Morning America was a wonderful opportunity for our dance members,” said Artistic Director Kevin “Iega” Jeff. “We are so excited to be a part of this unprecedented live event.”

As Angela Patmon, another dancer, said to the segment’s producer, “Live Life Amazingly.”
